Gumballs.com Columbia Carousel Gumball Machine w/ Stand & Candy: HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE

This next gift will add a bit of nostalgia to your home in a pretty “sweet” way!

One of the highlights of our shopping trips has always been stopping at the vending machines before leaving the stores. I remember doing that myself as a child. Of course back then it only cost one penny to buy a gumball or sweet tart. And putting a nickel in the machine meant getting a handful. Oh how things change!

Thanks to Gumballs.com my family and I are able to “go back in time” as often as we want now because we have our own gumball machine — the Old Columbia Carousel Gumball Machine and to complete the nostalgic look, Gumballs.com generously sent us the antique pedestal stand AND some bulk candy to fill it.

I let Gina choose the candy and she opted for the Mike & Ike’s and Reeses Pieces. Good choices, huh? hehee!

LIKE A KID IN A CANDY STORE!

When the package arrived and I realized what was inside I couldn’t wait to get it opened. I was like a kid in a candy store or better yet, it was like a scene from Christmas morning — boxes getting ripped open, eyes wide, mouth agape and giggling hysterically. hahaa!

Hey, I like my candy, ok. There’s no shame in that! ☺

There really isn’t much for assembly since the machine is already put together. The only installation was assembling the stand and attaching the gumball machine to it. Then adding the yummy candy.

STEP BY STEP ~ 

The only tool required is a Phillips screwdriver. That’s easy enough!

The stand comes in 7 pieces — the top and bottom “trunk”, base plate, and 4 legs, plus 4 screws. Whenever I’m building something I gather all of the parts, lay them out along with whatever tools I need. Then read through the instructions so I know what to expect. I’m pretty organized, or try to be to avoid interruptions later.

This project only took a few minutes to complete. It was one of the easiest I’ve ever done actually.

I do want to point out the quality of the Columbia Carousel. It’s durable and very realistic looking for a replica. I love the sliding coin mechanism! Oh, and I am SO glad that it comes with a locking lid. I can just imagine how quickly the candy would disappear if it didn’t. To be honest I HAVE seen Derek try and open the top but I’ve hidden the keys. hahaa!

just drop in a coin & slide the lever over (while holding one hand under the dispenser).

I will say that I’m not so sure the Reeses Pieces we received will make it inside the gumball machine by the time the Mike & Ike’s are gone. My hubby loves peanut butter and one bag is nearly gone already. hahaa!

Being a current owner of Coleman products, I knew exactly what kind of quality I was getting in the Fold N Go grill. And when I received it, I was not surprised to find how sturdy it is.

Right out of the box you’re nearly ready to cook. Everything is assembled except the propane cylinder (16.4 ounce) — something you supply yourself, and the 4 “feet”. I love the thick grill rack! It’s not some cheap, flimsy top that will need replacing after every use. This one is made to last! Plus, it’s porcelain-coated for easier clean up.

Speaking of clean up, there’s also a removable grease tray that catches all the drippings which is great for keeping the inside of the grill cleaner longer. Another great thing about these items is that they’re dishwasher safe. Woohoo, less dishes to wash by hand!

One unexpected perk with this portable grill is the electronic ignition. As with other take-along grills, you need matches to get them started. Well, not with the Fold N Go InstaStart grill. At the push of the starter button, the grill heats up quickly, and you’re on your way to some really tasty eats!

On your first use, I recommend starting on a low setting because the pretty blue flame (that sometimes appears invisible) DOES get hot and you don’t want to burn your food right off the bat.

This little horseshoe-shaped grill may look small, but it sure cooks like a full size grill with it’s 6,ooo BTU burner — evenly, without any hot spots. You can fit 4 nice sized hamburgers on the grid without crowding. Oh, and let’s not forget the hot dogs, brats, and steaks. What would outdoor grilling be without those? hehee!

HOW’S IT MEASURE UP?

The Fold N Go grill measures 16.6″ x 14.5″ x 6.8″ and weighs 11 pounds.

I really like the dome shaped lid that’s included on the Fold N Go. It provides more room for those thicker cuts of meat such as tri-tip roasts. And something else you can cook on this awesome grill is bacon strips. The grids on the rack are spaced just evenly enough to allow plenty of heat out yet close enough to prevent your food from falling through.

I’m really contemplating purchasing the stove grate and griddle accessories so I can attempt cooking additional foods on this little guy. You just never know when you’re going to need an additional stove top, right? hehee! I probably shouldn’t laugh because winter is quickly on it’s way and our electric seems to go out pretty frequently. Ugh!

Another accessory I’m thinking seriously of getting to accompany this new grill is a carrying case. Although it comes with a fold-away handle for transporting, a bag would give me an extra place to store essentials plus it comes with an adjustable strap. Maybe that’s just a feminine kind of thing, I don’t know. hahaa! It’s really not necessary though.

I have yet to meet a woman who is absolutely in love with her own natural body. There is always at least one thing every woman would change about herself if she had the chance. I know I would!

The Buddha Bowls are handmade in the USA and Canada and are made of ceramic materials. They’re microwave and dishwasher safe although I plan to hand wash them and won’t be putting them in our microwave. I don’t want to risk damaging my new favorite bowls.

When it comes to having a baby we all know that, starting out, you need a ton of stuff just to get through the first year of baby’s life.

One item in particular that’s a necessity, in my opinion, is a bassinet. Some parents prefer to skip the bassinet and go straight for a crib since babies don’t use them for long, but I really love the portability of a bassinet. It doesn’t take up a lot of space and can be placed right next to mom’s side of the bed for easy access to baby.

We all know mom’s don’t get much sleep for at least the first few months anyway, so why not put baby at arms length and make it a little easier on mom? It just might prevent a few toes from being stubbed in the dark too. hehee!

Bassinets are really fairly cut and dry as far as design. Some may look a little different but most have the same feature — a moses-style basket with legs. Well, that’s definitely not the case with the newly redesigned Kolcraft Contours® Classique™ 3-in-1 Bassinet.

Nope, Kolcraft made a few improvements to an already nice bassinet and made it even more amazing.

Those new changes include a deluxe storage organizer, a new fabric pattern (Orion), and the 2 wicker baskets that were included in the older model were traded for one large lower storage basket.

I really loved the cherry wood on the older model, and I’m super happy that Kolcraft kept it with this one. It really makes this contemporary bassinet look elegant.

I also love how neutral the fabric is because not every expecting parent wants to know what they’re having ahead of time. The creamy fabric color as well as the circle pattern is great for both girls and boys.

One thing I always disliked about bassinets is the lack of storage for baby’s essentials like diapers, wipes, onesies, socks, you get the picture. Well, Kolcraft added a large, lower storage basket for these necessities. And they improved on the storage organizer as well. It’s just the right size to fit a few of each item so you don’t have to go digging through a dresser, closet or diaper bag. Plus, you’re also not left running to another room while leaving baby unattended. Great, huh?

One feature that really sells me on the Contours Classique 3-in-1 is the changing table. You get the necessities of the bassinet and an added bonus of a changing table that can be conveniently stored underneath the basket when not in use. It’s a great space saver!

Another awesome feature is the removable Moses basket. It makes transporting baby throughout your home easy and convenient. Plus, it prevents interrupting baby during his or her naps. It also eliminates the need for a separate piece of furniture. Woohoo, moneysaver!

Installation of the Classique is super easy and only requires a Phillips screwdriver, as well as an Allen wrench (that’s included). The instructions are easy to follow, especially because they include images. That always makes assembly go a lot quicker!
