hdr-logo-001~ Thank you to First Things First (FTF) for providing the following information and for sponsoring this giveaway. I will receive a promotional item in exchange of my post. My opinions are 100% my own! ~

Why is it when you fall in love dating comes easy, but once you’re married dating your spouse often takes a back seat to everything else and the relationship goes stale?

Relationships require a full-time commitment from both parties in order to make it successful and that’s why First Things First, (FTF) is an award winning not-for-profit organization dedicated to strengthening families created an online resource which is supported by a broad cross-section of community organizations, groups and individuals.

FTF accomplishes its mission through meaningful media messaging and skill building classes.

Did you know:

• Couples who manage to devote time specifically to one another at least once a week are markedly more likely to enjoy high-quality relationships and lower divorce rates, compared to couples who do not devote as much couple time to one another.

• Only 30% of divorces are due to infidelity, addiction or abuse, 70% of divorces are due to couples feeling disconnected.

Take a peek at this sweet video…

Don’t you wish you could go back in time or at least relive some of the sweet moments from early on in your relationship? Hubby and I try to make time for each other every day, even if it’s at the end of the day. We enjoy each others company, affection and closeness— even after 23 years. It’s an amazing feeling and helps re-spark the fire so it doesn’t burn out.

We don’t get out alone much but when we do we still act like young lovers in love. That’s what helps us stay connected, not to mention keep our sanity. haha! Yes, he still opens the door for me when I get in the car or enter a place of business. He also pulls the seat out for me when we go to dinner and helps me with my coat in the cooler months.

We also STILL hold hands! It’s a simple act of love that keeps you connected and feeling young again.

Date your spouse? Why not? Just because you made it official doesn’t mean the romance needs to stop. It’s what brought you two together in the first place and commitment is what keeps it alive.

So what did you think of the video? Sweet, huh? I sure think so!

Summer is all about family and spending quality time with the ones you love. And the more skills you develop the more time you invest in your family and relationships.

The video was sweet, but seems so unrealistic… No idea how a married couple with kids could find ANY amount of time!! lol

  • Sandy N says:

I liked the video, its cute. Makes you think. Can happen, if you let it and plan it out & if you have a babysitter. Couples with kids just need to make time to be with one another, even if its just for an hour or 2.

I love that video! Date night is one thing that we have always made a priority no matter how hectic our schedules are or how busy we are with our jobs. It’s important!

I think it’s true that it’s great for couples to find some time to spend with each other like that, but it is also really difficult to do. Our lifestyles are really busy and it’s hard to fit that time in.

  • Dee @ Bella Savvy says:

I agree Leigh Anne. Even if it’s only for a few minutes, just showing a little bit of love and consideration for your significant other goes a long way.

  • Kimberly Schotz says:

Making time as a couple is essential for a strong relationship.

  • Linda romer says:

I think couples should make time to bond especially after being together for a long time and you fall into a repetitive routine.

After 38 years with my wonderful husband and now experiencing the cancer he is going through and chemo treatments, the video reminds me that it truly is only the small things in life that really matter and should come first. Be blessed in every tiny moment together.
