Now that we’re nearing February it’s a make-or-break time for New Year’s resolutions. Have YOU kept your commitment to eating healthier, and/or losing weight?

If so, great! If not, could it be because of all of those oh so tempting, high calorie, high fat goodies that tend to be laid out all nice and pretty during the holidays? We get into the spirit of the season and delve into the mouthwatering tastes of delectable treats without regard to the fatty content, or their ingredients for that matter. A true dieter killer for sure!

Then, without thinking we continue that trend of eating unhealthy desserts and snacks to satisfy our taste buds. Sure, we make every effort in the start of the new year to eat healthier but that motivation slowly dwindles and many of us fall back to that bad habit. Ugh!

Carrot sticks, salads, plain tuna and the like are great but they don’t do much for our natural desires (or need) to eat convenience foods on-the-go or to savor crispy, crunchy snacks.

That’s why I was more than thrilled to be introduced to Van’s Natural Foods!

If you’re like me and suffer from severe digestive problems, it’s pertinent that you take a closer look at what you’re putting into your body. I know I am. Though I haven’t yet been tested, I’m noticing a trend in suffering much more when I eat foods that are high in gluten. Hmm, have I developed a gluten intolerance? It’s very possible so I’m trying more and more meals and snacks that are gluten-free.

One of the great things about Van’s Natural Foods is that not only are their new snack foods free from gluten, but they’re made with wholesome ingredients like whole grains and other healthy stuff like brown rice, millet, oats, quinoa, and amaranth.

I recently received a package of goodies courtesy of Van’s Natural Foods and I couldn’t be happier with the taste and textures of the Multigrain Chips, and PB&J Sandwich Bars.

The Multigrain Chips (MSRP $3.49) come in two delicious flavors; Nacho, Nacho Man and Mighty Good BBQ. These babies are light, crisp, and full of flavor. Oh my! I had a hard time fighting the urge to gobble down a whole bag all by myself. They are THAT good!

Each bag offers 18 grams of nutrient rich whole grains. I would say they are simply delicious but there is nothing simple about these chips. They’re awesome and I love that they’re better for me— and my tummy.

Another delicious snack option is the PB&J Snack Bars (MSRP $4.49). They come in 2 tasty flavors; Blueberry and Peanut Butter, and Strawberry and Peanut Butter.

Oh, and yes these scrumptious bars are gluten-free as well. Being a family of peanut butter fans, it didn’t take long for these individually wrapped bars to disappear. My 19 year old son Derek gobbled up quite a few. I had to literally hide some in order to get a taste. hehee!

GMO-Free and full of flavor!

The PB&J Bars are packed with 10 grams of whole grains and offer a classic blend of real peanut butter and natural fruit filling sandwiched between two gluten-free bars. They’re slightly sweet, and chewy— just perfect for an on-the-go snack.

Van’s also offers Love Your Heart Waffles (MSRP $3.49) that are made from a mix of hearty whole grains including whole wheat, barley, oats and more. Each serving is packed with 34 grams of whole grains and 7 grams of fiber. The perfect choice for diets low in saturated fats and cholesterol. I didn’t receive samples of those but I am sure they’re probably just as tasty as the snacks.

If you’re serious about your health yet don’t want to sacrifice taste, I highly recommend you check out Van’s Natural Foods. They value artisanal quality and cook their products in small, minimally processed batches with always-fresh ingredients, and they’ve been doing it since the 1970’s.

Plus, you’ll be happy to know that Van’s snack line has won multiple recent healthy food awards for their better-for-you snacks. Now THAT’S going mainstream!

Van’s frozen breakfast and snack foods are available at grocery stores, mass merchandise stores and natural food retailers nationwide.
