Tis the season for giving… but it’s also the season for taking (without asking).
The holiday season is a busy time of year for shoppers and thieves alike. Thieves are praying on the fact that we’re SO busy with decorating our homes (inside & out), buying gifts, shopping for party foods and accessories and rushing here and there that we tend to lose our focus on the bad guys and our valuables.
Did you know… according to Javelin Strategy and Research, there was one case of ID fraud EVERY three seconds in 2012? That equates to more than 12 million victims. Wow, way too many!!!
Unfortunately I, myself have played the victim on two different occasions but no more. This chick has had enough and I’m more than prepared and ready to stop thieves in their tracks— thanks to my new state-of-the-art Fellowes P-12C Cross-Cut Paper Shredder, among other steps I’m taking to ensure my safety and that of my family.
Our old paper shredder only cut in straight lines, creating narrow strips of paper that, with a little time could easily be put back together “puzzle-style” and read by whoever took the time to reassemble them. Hmm, no security there!
What makes the Fellowes P-12C shredder SO awesome is that it makes cross cuts in up to 12 sheets at a time— leaving behind 309 cross cut bits of paper (per sheet) that would be nearly impossible to reassemble. Now THAT is security for your identity!
I honestly don’t see ANY thief attempting that task. It wouldn’t be worth it to them. hahaa!
Because the Fellowes P-12C shreds a larger quantity of pages at once, it saves you time so you can do other important things such as baking cookies, wrapping presents or spending time with loved ones.
And, since we’re on the subject of safety, you’ll appreciate Fellowes patented SafeSense® Technology feature. If you accidentally touch the paper opening, the P-12C automatically stops cutting. That’s super important if you have little ones running or crawling around your home. All parents know that young children can be very inquisitive and there’s really nothing they won’t get into. The Fellowes shredder is no exception but now you don’t have to worry about the safety of your tots tiny fingers.
The four-gallon bin offers plenty of storage for those who do a lot of shredding as well. Or for those who don’t want to have to empty the receptacle so often.
This baby is perfect for small offices and home offices where shredding old bills, and junk mail is a must. It gets the job done quickly and easily and although it’s a bit noisy, it cuts through nearly anything you throw at it including staples, paper clips and credit cards. Our old shredder couldn’t do that!
SafeSense® Technology sensor (yellow light) stops blades when fingers are near!
Something else our old shredder didn’t have is an “overheat” light to let you know the product was getting pushed a little too hard. The P-12C does! Overall this is a pretty cool shredder.
If I had to give any negative remarks it would be that when you’re empty the bin, it can create a little mess. The drawer slides out to the side and if there are any cuttings left behind, clinging to the blades, they wind up on the floor. To help cut down on messes upon clean-up, it’s recommended that you oil the blades to prevent cuttings from sticking behind.
HOW DOES IT MEASURE UP?
The slim profile P-12C Cross-Cut Paper Shredder measures 17″ x 8.75″ x 16″ and weighs 16.1 pounds.
Ready to protect your identity this holiday season from would-be thieves? Don’t be a statistic in 2013… start taking control over your valuables and stop fraud before it starts!
The Fellowes P-12C Cross-Cut Paper Shredder ($99.97) is available for purchase at Walmart stores nationwide. As well as online at Walmart.com.
This product would make a great gift for finance-savvy moms and paper-ridden college students this Christmas!
