Can you believe it… it’s almost that time again… the end of Daylight Savings Time when we change our clocks back one hour.
This is also a great time to replace those smoke and carbon monoxide detector batteries.
In helping your family stay safe in your home, it’s pertinent that you adopt the life-saving habit of checking the functionality of your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, as well as replacing those batteries.
DID YOU KNOW?
Thirty-eight percent of fatal fire injuries occur in homes without working smoke alarms, while 24% occur in homes in which at least one smoke alarm is present but fails to operate, frequently due to dead or missing batteries.
As sad as that may seem, these horrendous catastrophes can be prevented with the simple change of batteries.
To help remind you… Energizer and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) are celebrating the 26th anniversary of their annual Change Your Clock Change Your Battery® program— a program– in working with local fire departments nationwide, created to raise awareness of the importance of working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
As families are heating up their homes with wood burning or natural gas fireplaces, electric or gas furnaces, or even propane heaters, we all should take heed and remember this quick and easy household chore each and every time the clocks are moved forward AND back for daylight savings time.
