When it comes to food I’ve always been a believer in that it should not only taste good but be appealing to the eye as well— fun even.
As the saying goes a “first impression is everything“. If food doesn’t look good, more than likely you’re not going to want to eat it because you’re first thought is… “I bet it tastes as bad as it looks — blah!”
Imagine for a moment… you’re sitting with your family at the dinner table and there, sitting before your eyes is food that’s in fun, silly or even festive shapes. What would THAT do for your palette? You’d want to dig in, right? Of course! I know your kids would! And why? Because it’s fun and appealing to your eyes.
That’s what I love about the one of a kind pasta shapes created by Fun Pasta Fundraising. They take fun and creativity to a whole new level with their edible pastas that are shaped like farm animals, pumpkins, Christmas trees, spider webs, snowmen, collegiate logos, musical notes and more.
If you’ve been trying to get your young picky eaters to sit down and actually eat something… THIS is it! I don’t see them wanting to pass on Halloween shaped pasta. No way! hehee.
We recently received a generous shipment of a variety of shaped pastas from Fun Pasta Fundraising and I have to say, the moment I opened the box I was saying … “AWWW!” “How cute!” I couldn’t wait to give them a try.
HERE’S WHAT I RECEIVED:
The great thing about these pastas (aside from their fun shapes and colors) is that many of them come with seasoning mixes and all you have to add is water. Of course you’re more than welcome to toss in your own ingredients to customize them to your family’s liking. Plus, on the backs of the labels, Fun Pasta Fundraising includes yummy recipes you can try.
Here in central Ohio temperatures have dropped drastically in the past 2 weeks, going from the 80′s down to the 60′s and below. Brr… it’s soup weather now! That’s why we opted to try the Chicken Noodle soup mix first.
I’ll tell you, if you want a homemade soup without spending hours making it, this is it. It’s SO quick and easy and it tastes great too!
1.) Chicken Noodle soup mix 2.) Sliced Carrots
3.) Chicken Noodle farm animal pasta 4.) Shredded Chicken
To make a pot of the Chicken Noodle Soup with farm animal shaped pasta, first you need some cooked chicken. I boiled a pound of boneless, skinless chicken tenders in a pot of water that I seasoned with dried minced onion, celery salt, white pepper and basil. I wanted to give the chicken itself some flavor before adding it to the pasta.
After my chicken was fully cooked I removed it from the pot and set it aside to cool. Then I turned up the heat so the water was boiling, tossed in some sliced carrots and allowed them to cook until they were nearly tender. Next, I added the chicken noodle pasta, and the included soup mix. Mmm, a delicious aroma was coming up from the pot at that point!
I allowed the ingredients to cook for 5 minutes and then readded the chicken (after shredding). The chicken noodle pasta takes approximately 15 minutes to boil until it’s al dente. After that this soup is ready to eat. Yum!
1.) It’s SOUP! 2.) Chicken shaped pasta
The recipe on the back of the chicken noodle soup mix package states you can add an 8 ounce can of a peas and carrots mix but my son can not eat peas so I opted for fresh, sliced carrots. It was still delicious and tasted homemade. Of course it was but it was much simpler and quicker to make. Next time I think I’ll add some fresh, cooked celery and onion. Mmm….
With Fun Pasta Fundraising pastas, the holidays will be much more delightful. I can’t wait to experiment with the cute Christmas trees. That wintertime chili mix is also calling my name. I’ve never actually made chili with pasta but it sure sounds good.
I’m saving the OSU collegiate pasta for the big OSU/ Michigan game. I’m sure the buckeye fans in the family will get a kick out of that!
Pasta isn’t all that Fun Pasta Fundraising has to offer either. They also have cookies — meringue cookies to be exact and the vanilla bean flavor we received is divine. I love the light, crisp texture of meringue cookies. And these nearly melt in your mouth. Yummy!
Fun Pasta Fundraising pastas give food personality and have a great way of making family mealtimes fun!
