logo-header~ Thank you to Yale Real Living for providing samples in exchange for my honest review. ~

When hubby and I decided to have our current home built 13 years ago we knew (due to our budget) we would start off with some basic upgrades during the building process and worry about others later after living in our home.

We focused more on structural features, plus upgraded the carpeting, and tile. As you saw, that was nearly 13 years ago. To me that’s a long time ago! During the last few years I’ve gotten the itch to add some upgrades of my own including new paint, bath and kitchen fixtures and just recently interior door knobs.

Yes, I love home decorating and design! I also love doing DIY projects. It gives me a chance to be creative AND I get to work with tools. I was such a tomboy when I was young. hehee!

Thanks to Yale Real Living, hubby and I got the opportunity to update the interior door knobs in our home and I can’t tell you how thrilled I was after this project was over. They look great and my home looks much more like I envisioned it 13 years ago.

Our door knobs went from the builders typical cheap brass knobs to beautiful Oxford oil-rubbed bronze privacy and passage knobs in a matter of a few hours. They look amazing!

Now our door knobs match our cabinet knobs in the kitchen and bathrooms. Oh, even the toilet paper holders match. hehee! I’m easily amused. Can you tell?

Installing new knobs is really simple. For this task I enlisted the help of my hubby to make the job go quicker. He removed the old knobs and I installed the new ones. Team work baby!

There are just a few steps required to complete this project and they are:

  • Unscrew the old knob and latch set up from each door & the strike plate
  • Remove all old parts to expose the hole
  • Insert the new latch inside the jamb side of the door and add screws
  • Insert the interior (chassis, rose & knob) portion
  • Insert the outer portion (chassis) of the knob, aligning the screws with the holes from the interior portion and attach with screws
  • Attach the “rose” to the outer chassis
  • Attach the outer knob shell (making sure the knob release button is exposed)
  • Install the strike plate with screws to the door jamb

3.) All finished   4.) Checking the lock

Of course before you pack up your tools (in this case a screwdriver) you should check the knobs to make sure everything is aligned properly and the locks are in working order. Yep, everything worked and we are now in business. hehee!

I definitely prefer the Oxford knobs over the old ones. Not only are they much prettier, but the mechanism is much quieter when the doors are opened and closed. I never knew that some knobs were quieter than others but it’s true. I guess you learn something new every day.

You can tell by the feel that the Yale Oxford knobs are made of better quality materials as well. These babies are made to last!

Something you may appreciate, like I do, is that with the Oxford door knobs, the privacy knobs include a panic-free egress so at any time (from the interior) you can open the door without turning any locks.

These knobs also include concealed mounting screws for a much cleaner, upgraded look. Gotta love that!

Plus, the Yale Real Living knobs come with a limited lifetime warranty that covers workmanship, materials and operation for as long as you own the knobs. That sure puts ME at ease.

You can purchase the Oxford Oil-Rubbed Bronze privacy and passage interior door knobs directly at www.yale2you.com for a retail price of $20 each.

Yale Real Living also offers a great selection of exterior door knobs and locks including the totally awesome key free touchscreen deadbolts in a variety of finishes.
