Within the past 2 weeks I’ve gotten little to no sleep and if you’ve seen my social media updates within that time period, you already know why.
My hubby’s elderly aunt Dee Dee went into the hospital on May 2nd to have heart surgery. On May 3rd my dad went into the hospital to have heart surgery. My dad was sent home on Saturday, the day following his surgery while Dee Dee stayed. Unfortunately on Sunday my dad wound up back in the hospital and we weren’t sure if he was going to make it.
Then on Monday I had to take my daughter Gina to labor and delivery to be checked to make sure she wasn’t in early labor. She had been having cramps and Braxton Hicks contractions and being that she wasn’t even 6 months pregnant at the time, it was way too early for the baby to come. She checked out ok, luckily.
On Tuesday, Dee Dee was sent in for another surgery on her heart to replace a valve with a pig’s valve. By then she was very weak and her lungs began filling with fluid. Although she started to slightly feel better and they were able to get her to eat some food on Wednesday she still wasn’t doing very well so another doctor decided to take her in for yet another surgery on her heart (to replace a pacemaker). Well, she went downhill from there and sadly passed away. We attended her funeral on May 7th.
My nephew Joseph was admitted in the hospital last week as well. He was and still is battling a horrible case of staph (an infection) that has spread throughout his entire body. Luckily a test showed that it has not effected his heart but it’s still in his body and he is being given the highest dose of antibiotics available. So far he’s surviving.
As you can see, stress has played a huge part in my not being able to sleep. It’s been nearly impossible. I was getting to the point where I wished the sandman would come and visit me so I could get some much needed rest and lucky for me, he pretty much did when I was sent a free sample bottle of the new ZzzQuil from the makers of Vicks NyQuil.
NyQuil has always been my go-to over-the-counter medicine for times when I’m battling the flu or other illnesses but ZzzQuil is not for colds. It’s for those days, like I’ve had in the past 2 weeks, when you experience occasional sleeplessness.
The active ingredient in ZzzQuil is diphenhydramine HCI, which helps reduce the time it takes for you to fall asleep, so you can sleep soundly and wake feeling refreshed and invigorated.
My hubby relies on the prescription medication Ambien to help him fall asleep but it doesn’t actually help him stay asleep. Well, now him and I both can doze off safely and without a necessary prescription thanks to P&G. Plus, we’re able to wake up feeling well rested.
ZzzQuil is the only over-the-counter sleep aid medication that’s available in both liquid (Warming Berry flavor) and LiquiCaps form. And it doesn’t taste bad at all. I tried the liquid form and it’s very soothing, giving you a warming feeling as it goes down!
This non-habit forming, attractive purple medication is intended for adults and children ages 12 and up and is safe and effective when used according to package directions.
