This year, as an early birthday present, I decided to treat myself to a little something, well, sweet— chocolate covered strawberries and other tasty confections.

I know I told you at the beginning of the year of my desire to lose a few pounds but hey, I’m a busy, hardworking wife and mother. I deserve a little treat every once in a while, right? Of course I do!

And when it comes to my favorites, strawberries and chocolate top my list. When combined, these two are the absolute perfect pair!

After making the decision to “gift” myself I knew exactly where my goodies would come from… RedEnvelope. Why? Because they’re THE go-to place for unique birthday gifts for her, for him or honestly for any occasion— even Easter.

I spent a bit of time on the RedEnvelope site but kept coming back to the Full Dozen Hand-Dipped Cocktail Strawberries and Handmade Caramel and Pretzel Sampler. You honestly can’t look at the photos or read the descriptions and turn them down. No way. They look and sound delicious!

The great thing about RedEnvelope and their sister brands is that there are SO many options to choose from, shipping is pretty fast and they always stand behind their products. If you’re unhappy with an item, they are more than happy to replace it or refund your money— No questions asked. I know that from past experience and that’s why I’m always excited to shop their sites. I know what I’m getting even before I place an order.

When my goodies arrived I couldn’t wait to get the boxes opened. I tore through the outer packaging like it was Christmas. hahaa! Oh joy, those big strawberries looked divine. And they tasted even better than they looked— sweet, juicy and oh so satisfying!

Each cocktail strawberries package contains 3 different flavor combinations— you get 4 strawberries dipped in milk flavored chocolate with a hint of Butter Rum*, 4 strawberries dipped in dark flavored chocolate with a hint of Amaretto*, and 4 strawberries dipped in white flavored chocolate with a hint of Champagne*.

No, I didn’t get drunk off of my berries, they actually contain no alcohol so even your children can try them. Yes, I shared with hubby and my kids. Not that I really wanted to but each of us tasted one of each flavor. My favorite was the milk chocolate and amaretto. YUMMY!

Hubby preferred the white chocolate and champagne combo and my kids, well, they just gobbled each of them down as if there was no tomorrow. Did they even TASTE them? hahaa!

After opening the handmade caramel & pretzel sampler box I went for the sea salted caramel smothered in milk chocolate. Mmmm…. very tasty! Upon first popping it in my mouth I got an instant taste of the salt but after chewing a few times the ingredients blended together to give me a perfectly sweet/salty combination and oh was it heavenly.

One thing I want to mention is that both packages arrived with ice packs so they were a bit cold. And if you have ever placed caramels in your refrigerator, well, you know they can be a little hard to chew so it’s best to let them sit out for a bit before attempting to bite into them. That’s what I found with these. They are much easier to eat after coming to room temperature!

I then wanted to give the caramel nut clusters a try. I’m a sucker for anything that’s covered in chocolate (as long as it doesn’t start with “B” and end in “UG”). hahaa!

Mmm, very tasty. I’ll admit, it’s hard not to woof down both the strawberries and the chocolate caramel combo’s in one sitting. They’re very good!

I wasn’t really big on the pretzels (due to the slightly stale taste and broken pretzel rods) but they weren’t the worst thing I’ve ever tasted. My kids enjoyed them though. I just wasn’t overly impressed with the chewy consistency of the pretzels. I prefer them crisp and crunchy.

Each handmade caramel & pretzel sampler pack comes with 6 Sel Gris Gray Sea Salted Caramels, 8 oz Caramel Pretzel Bark, 4 Chocolate Dipped Pretzel Rods, and 8 Caramel Nut Clusters.

Overall I am very pleased with this order and will definitely look to RedEnvelope for gift ideas in the near future.
