As you know my daughter Gina is expecting her first child in August. Yes, just 5 months from now!

Well, the conversation came up recently about what kinds of clothes she would wear throughout her pregnancy.

Now before I even begin to get into describing what she plans to wear, I have to tell you that I can’t help but giggle every time I see her baby bump. Being a mom myself I think back to the times when my own belly was growing and how emotional I got when I started feeling my baby moving inside me. And now, seeing MY baby carrying her own child, it’s amazing yet a little funny to see her originally flat tummy bulging from underneath her tops.

This is a girl who has always focused way too much on her weight and her shape so I think that plays into why I can’t help but laugh. haha!

Ok, all kidding aside, Gina has finally came to the realization that she can no longer wear her size 4 jeans and although it’s a bit depressing for her, she’s accepting the fact that her belly will only be big for a short time so she’s embracing it— slowly. hehee!

She wants to stay away from the “Hey you there, I’m PREGNANT!!!” type of clothing and is going for a more stylish, age appropriate look. Something that looks fairly similar to what she was wearing pre-pregnancy and I can’t say that I blame her.

Maternity clothing has came a long LONG way since I was pregnant. I mean when I was shopping for maternity it was hard finding tops that didn’t advertise that you were expecting. Sure, a mom-to-be is and should be proud but you don’t have to look like a walking billboard. You know what I mean?

I love many of the styles I see in maternity now. It kind of makes me want to have another….. oh, who am I kidding? I’m 41, and my eggs have probably dried up by now. hahaa! Moving on….

Now if you know anything about junior-style jeans you know they typically hug the hips and ride low, very low (pretty much exposing your underwear when you sit). Something that’s not exactly attractive (for anyone) and definitely not going to work for a pregnant belly!

Well, the straight leg jeans from Thyme Maternity are far from THAT fashion faux pas yet still provide a skinny or straight leg fit like Gina wants, and far more attractive and modest. Not to mention much more comfortable for her growing tummy!

Because Gina is only at the 4 month mark I wasn’t sure what size to get. I mean it’s really hard to determine just how much she may expand or how much weight she will gain so I guessed. For now the pants are a bit loose around the waistband when it’s fully extended so she’s folding them over. No big deal there! They look great actually.

We do, however wish they came in a shorter inseam because they are a few inches too long for her 5′ 4″ frame. Inseams are not mentioned on the Thyme Maternity site so once again I took a guess. To get a feel for the fit and quality we just cuffed these at the ankles.

Overall the straight leg jeans are really nice. They’re made with quality materials, the dark wash coloring is consistent and they’re roomy in the thighs (one of the places I gained most of MY pregnancy weight). I love that the 3-in-1 panel gives you the option of wearing the jeans in three different ways:

Full coverage: Over the belly for full coverage – hugging your growing belly.
Mid-rise: Fold over once for a mid-rise fit that embraces your body perfectly.
Low-rise: Fold over twice for a low-rise effect providing great belly support.

The super soft and smooth knit panel is made to stretch to adapt to a growing belly throughout all stages of pregnancy. Gotta love that!
