Bad flooring can lead to moisture problems, scratches, stains, even a sharp creaking whenever you walk across it.

Sound familiar?

When you’ve finally decided to remodel your floors, but can’t decide which brand you should go with or what style flooring you should use, check out Quickstep floors. This flooring was developed by a Belgium company called Unilin and has been around for several decades— only improving with time. Unilin manufactures laminate floors and specializes in several materials that make up laminate flooring, including chipboard, MDF and melamine. Since the company has such a rich history, it can be useful to have a guide that highlights some of their finer parts.

What Makes Quickstep So Special?

Quickstep was the first to use a “click-type” method of binding laminate boards. Instead of sticking directly to the underlayment of the floor, Quickstep instead floats over it, which makes it easy to install and lay down. Unilin then went on to make improvements to the color and feel of their boards to make them look and feel like actual wood.

What Are The Advantages Of Quickstep?

Since the creators of Quickstep have been in the laminate flooring business so long, they’ve had ample opportunity to improve the quality and selection of their floors when compared to other flooring manufacturers. You also don’t have to worry about getting shocked when you walk across Quickstep flooring due to the antistatic treatment coating the surface of the floor.

What Kind Of Warranty Does Quickstep Offer?

Only the materials are covered under the Quickstep warranty (rather than both the materials and the labor). Good thing is, tearing the floor up and putting another one down won’t be too bit of an issue since a Quickstep floor clicks together instead of sticking to the floor. The warranty is, however, pro-rated, which means that you’ll only be getting a partial refund, like with most other warranties. Keep in mind that while this may not sound ideal, other warranties are the exact same way.

What Options Does Quickstep Offer?

One of the great things about Quickstep is that you have several options available to you in terms of color, design and style. The Allustra line has an ultra-glossy piano finish that’s perfect for homeowners who want a traditional look. The Arte collection looks great when designed as a boarder or diamond pattern in the middle of the room. If you’re looking for something a bit more natural and warm, the Eligna collection has a wide range of hues ranging from Brazilian cherry, chocolate walnut and double cherry to county maple, golden wheat oak and heritage oak.

With Quickstep you have the liberty of doing your floor remodeling job yourself rather than having to rely on hiring a potentially expensive contractor. Think of how satisfying it will be to have friends and family over and have them be blown away at how good your floor looks. Then imagine being able to tell them that you did all of it yourself. That’s a feeling that you won’t get if you decide to let a contractor have all of the fun.

6 Responses to A Quick Guide To Quickstep Flooring

  • We had this in our previous home. It was so beautiful and held up with our 3 dogs and toddler super well!

  • thank you for posting this , my husband recently installed wood flooring and I had questions. Thanks!

  • After buying our house last year, my fiance re-did the entire floor of our finished basement with click-type binding laminate floors and they look really great! I was so surprised just how much they looked like real hardwood floors, no one can tell the difference, and it was so easy to do! So easy, in fact, that I installed them in our extra bedroom that had one of the dingiest, dirtiest carpets I have ever seen that I could not wait to get up off the floor after we moved in.

  • I love how easy this sounds! Now only if I could afford new flooring……

You and me both Christy. I would love to have hardwood floors or even ceramic tile in lieu of carpeting. With the allergies I deal with daily, I really shouldn’t have carpet. And carpet is such a pain to keep clean. It wears out and stains set into the pad.

  • I would love to have hardwoods! They look so clean and pretty!
