As I’ve shared with you, home decorating is a real obsession of mine. I absolutely love everything about it — from creating built-ins and painting, to wall decor — all the way down to the rugs on the floors, I LOVE IT!!!
Your homes decor can truly brighten not only a room but your mood as well. And depending on the colors you choose, it can help soften your mood and make you feel more relaxed. It’s amazing what just changing out an area rug, table lamp or picture can do.
I honestly can’t help but fantasize think about what my next home is going to be like. I mean once we get our current home sold (hopefully by this summer) we’ll be in the market for a new home, in a whole other state and although it’s going to be a lot of work getting there, I can’t help but find it exciting. Just imagine how much I’ll get to do in my new home — painting, rearranging furniture to accommodate the new rooms, and maybe even replace a few pieces of furniture as well. Ahh, I can just see it now. hehee!
Can you hear my hubby silently grumbling about how this will effect our bank account? haha!
Well, don’t worry hubby, I’m not planning to buy all new furnishings. I mean, I do have my eye on a few dining room sets and we all really need new mattresses since our old ones are so uncomfortable and non-supportive. But that’s about it. REALLY!
I think what I love most about home decorating is that I get to show my creative side. I tend to lean toward old world European styles in the majority of my home and for our bedroom, we currently have a West Indies (safari) theme with lots of bronze and gold colors, bamboo, palm trees, and animals. RAWR!!!
I love earthy tones and unique things. And homes with a lot of structural details really catch my eye. Can you tell I’m not ordinary? hehee! If you want to get a better feel for MY style, stop by my favorite places & spaces Pinterest board sometime. There’s some truly amazing stuff there that I hope to incorporate into my new home… hopefully coming soon!
So what’s YOUR favorite home decor style (if you have one)?

That is so pretty! I love the “mantle” above the stove!
I don’t think I have one. We’re so simple over here so I’d say anything simple and without a lot of corners
I haven’t been lucky enough to take a place and truly make it my own yet, but I definitely look forward to the day I’ll be able to!
I’m definitely an eclectic/world traveler kind of decorator. I LOVE anything ethnic and festive looking.
I guess I like the country look. Wooden floors, high ceilings…
My home decor style is very eclectic. I like a very casual living area, with comfortable furniture set out. I am crazy about the color blue, so a favorite room would have to feature blue somewhere in it!

My home decor style is probably eclectic chic.
I follow your Pinterest Boards! I love your style. . . one of my fav pins is this one with the cool pocket doors! Stylish Doors great article!
I love that stove! I would love to decorate and re do my kitchen like the picture. I think every woman dreams of a kitchen like that..
Decorating my house, even though something I quite enjoy -just like you-, is a tough task to partake…see, my husband would love to have a contemporary/modern, sleek lines, black-gray-red decorated house while I have more of an eclectic taste…and I’d love my house to feel lived in and with organized and meaningful clutter! One of these days I’ll get to at least decorate ONE room my way!
And you should Sofia. I’m lucky that my hubby and I have very similar tastes. We like pretty much the same thing. Of course it’s a bit in expensive taste but it’s amazing that when I point out things I like (decor and design wise) he likes it too.
I too love earth tones. I am somewhat of a minimalist when it comes to home decor. I love having plenty of open space!
I love open space as well. I love an open floor plan, which is what we have now. I can’t imagine going back to a traditional home with lots of walls and cramped spaces. I feel claustrophobic in those!
I forgot to mention that I do love modern furniture, as long as it is comfortable. Comfort is too often omitted with a modern design.

You can tell it’s your passion.
My decor would be Caribbean style. I’d do anything to have my home done all over in the Caribbean setting and mostly turquoise blue.
I love the tropical look as well. That’s why I chose the decor for our bedroom. I love palm trees and the feel of being on vacation in warmer climate. It’s SO relaxing, not to mention romantic!
I love natural elements The rock on the back wall is gorgeous!
I do too. It gives it a homier feel. Natural stone is beautiful!
I’m pretty eclectic but I love Country French, if it’s done simply.
I’m always redecorating something! Last year I was into pastels, this year, I’m not so sure yet. We are re-doing our floors and walls, so I’m excited about that!
I always have ideas in my head of how I want to decorate each room. I just have to wait until I have the funds to do so. The waiting is the worst. haha!
I AM A RENTER AND WHEN WE MOVED INTO THIS HOUSE I DIDN’T WANT TO DECORATE. I FELT LIKE IT WASN’T MINE AND JUST LEFT IT…OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE ITCH…WHY HAVEN’T I MADE THIS MY HOME……CHANGING THAT NOW! THANKS FOR YOU ARTICLE!
You’re welcome. If you want to add a bit of wall decor without it being permanent you could always try the removable decals that come in murals, and beautiful quotes. They come off easy and don’t ruin the wall underneath. Just a thought!
I don’t have a home decor style. It’s just plain and simple really. I love the picture you have above though.
I like natural elements and Asian style decorating!
I don’t really have a style and I guess I can say that is my style. If I like it and it looks good then its ok
I don’t really have a style, it’s more ecletic than anything… But I LOVE Shabby Chic!!
I love country and antique styles. I appreciate anything that is beautiful like above but to live with country.
I like natural colors and a more modern look
I like traditional, country decor. White trim and real wood.
