All Star Vacation Homes

For me, when cold weather hits I find myself feeling drained quite frequently. My energy level just plummets, although my appetite picks up. Hey, maybe I should have been a bear that goes into hibernation and sleeps throughout winter. haha!

Do you find yourself making the “I’m tired of feeling tired!” statement? I know I sure do!

Well, with a few simple daily steps, you can get back that energy and boost your mood in the process.

Take A Walk!

Starting the day off with a brisk walk can do wonders for your energy level and get you thinking positively. Try thinking about all of the things you’re thankful for. If you live in a cold winter climate and don’t want to freeze yourself on your walk, invest in a simple treadmill, or head to the mall so you can get your body and your mind moving.

Free Your Mind!

Meditation can be very relaxing and help in priming your body for a normally crazy busy day. To start, find a quiet place to sit. Focus on your breathing as you inhale and exhale. Create a peaceful scenery in your mind and go there.

Play It Again Sam!

Playful actions aren’t just for kids. I mean just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Try putting on your favorite tune and dance around. Or why not go for a bike ride? Taking in the scenery and breathing in some fresh air can do wonders for your mood.

Reconnecting

Give an old friend you haven’t talked to in a long time a call. Or do lunch with a co-worker. Getting out, moving and mingling is a wonderful way to switch up an otherwise monotonous day.

Laugh About It!

Laughing and smiling can be contagious as well as make you feel good from the inside out. And so what if someone thinks you’re strange. Laughter is the best medicine for any occasion.

Nuke Those Energy Suckers

If you constantly surround yourself with people who are always “negative Nancy’s”, they’ll only bring you down and drain you of that sweet energy. Not only mentally but physically as well. If you can’t seem to get away from these types of people, try countering their negative comments and attitude with compassion and kindness.

Just Let Go!

Think of energy as a river. When you allow stress to rule your life, you’re building a dam that blocks that river. To help release stress, try writing down what’s bothering you. Crumple that paper up in your hands and squeeze as hard as you can. Then gently open your hands and toss the papers away (opening your arms wide as you do). Feel that tension release as you tell yourself that you are not allowing stress to take over your well being anymore — you’re letting it go!

Perform An Act Of Kindness

Offering a simple, kind gesture such as helping an elderly person carry groceries to their car or visiting someone who is feeling a bit under the weather can really give you a lift too. Positive energy is an awesome gift that costs nothing when it’s shared.

Physical energy gets a boost from a healthy diet, but it begins with a positive mental outlook first.

What kinds of things do you do to gain more energy throughout the day?

  • My girls and I try to have a dance party every day. Even if it is just for a few minutes, it gets us all up, moving and makes us giggle and have so much fun! I love the idea of writing stressful things down and throwing them away; I will be trying that one for sure!
