When it comes to the holidays, I absolutely love hosting parties. The only problem is, by the time New Years Eve rolls around my hubby starts getting a little antsy (due to all of the money we spent on Christmas gifts it leaves very little for our food budget).
This is when my savvy nature has to kick in fairly hard. So… how do I stretch those food budget dollars? I shop ALDI.
They’re always my go-to grocery store because when I shop at ALDI I know I’m getting some good bargains. Not to mention walking out with more bags (when compared to other grocers) stuffed full of good quality foods.
On my recent visit to ALDI I stocked up on some tasty snacks, wine and other goodies to help us ring in the New Year right.
Here’s a few of my finds:
For a total of $25.01.
Of course I purchased other items including chicken, stew meat, dairy products and many others, since this was part of my weekly shopping trip — I wound up with a cart load. A total of 74 items came to just $138.22. Never would I ever leave another grocery store paying under $200 for that many items. And I didn’t even use coupons!
Moscato, being one of my favorite wines, HAS to be a part of my holiday celebration. This year ALDI offered a pink Moscato variety that I have never tried before. Of course since it’s for New Years Eve I have to wait, but I’m pretty excited to pop that baby open. hehee! I’m sure the quality is just as good as their Chaza Moscato, maybe even better.
If you’re looking for a special gift to give your party host this year, I highly recommend the Moscato or any other wine variety from ALDI. They’re priced at $5.99 or less, and just as fresh, crisp, and good as other brands. The perfect pairing for your holiday menu!
Gina has become a quick fan of the Peppermint Pretzel Stars. They ARE very good, so if you like chocolate covered pretzels and the taste of peppermint, you’ll love these and they’re priced well for a 7 ounce bag. I, of course, bought 3 bags so I can grab a few pretzels before Gina gets a hold of them. haha! I just may have to go back to ALDI and get some more before they’re gone for the year.
During the holiday season, ALDI stores nationwide carry an additional line-up of more than 100 seasonal items at unbelievable prices to help you stretch your budget.
Keep It Simple: When planning your party, don’t over think it. If you try to do too much, you’ll end up unable to enjoy the event you’ve worked so hard to put together.
Somewhat Homemade: Combine traditional homemade recipes with pre-made items for a holiday spread that is sure to please. Dress up your ham with an apple cider or balsamic glaze. Or place bite size portions of apple or pecan pie, plus cheesecake samplers into mini martini glasses for a chic dessert table display.
Unexpected Centerpiece: To update the typical floral centerpiece, fill a large glass vase or a few small vases with ornaments, seasonal produce (such as cranberries), or holiday candies such as Choceur chocolate figurines or Choceur peppermint sticks available at ALDI.
