Misikko HANA Professional Flat Iron (review) + Giveaway (CLOSED)

Some like it hot some like it smooth. I like to style my hair in different ways but no matter how I style it, it’s long and has a natural curl. So when I wanna go straight I need some help. My 17 year old daughter straightens her hair nearly every day because she hates her wavy hair. It’s really thick and, as she complains, it’s “Medusa like”.

Why is it that no matter what your hair type, you’re just not happy with it? You want something you don’t have. If you have brown hair, you want blonde or black. If you have short hair, you want long hair, etc. That seems to be the norm with everything really. The grass always looks greener on the other side, as the saying goes.

We’ve been testing the Misikko HANA Professional 1″ flat iron (pink edition) to see just how well this narrow straightener would work on long, thick hair. The HANA Professional arrived in a beautiful display. Missiko really knows how to make their customers feel special.

Inside the packing box was an assortment of goodies — a black metal box which housed a nice pink storage pouch, and in that pouch was the pink edition HANA Professional flat iron. Also inside the box was a bottle of HANA ShineShield, a felt heat proof storage pouch, a silicone iron mat, some emery boards, hand sanitizer, and some lovely burgundy & white roses. This was a very beautiful and well thought out display. I loved that!

The HANA Professional 1″ flat iron has an adjustable temperature dial with 5 settings — from 140-450° F. It’s even safe on damp hair. The floating 1″ plate adjusts to glide over any hair texture leaving shiny, anti-frizzy, beautiful hair. And the advanced tourmaline ceramic plates protect color treated hair. Woohoo, we love that! My daughter and I both color our hair so we need all the protection we can get. Hair straighteners, curling irons and heat in general can be very damaging to your hair, especially if it’s been color treated.

We love how quick the HANA Professional heats up, in just seconds. So when you’re in a hurry to go out with friends, you don’t have to wait 10-15 minutes or more like with other irons we’ve used. This baby is speedy quick!

Oh, so you want a few whispy strands, not just pin straight hair? The edges of the HANA Professional plate are curved for us girls who like variety. You can curl it, flip it or just go totally straight. Whatever you choose. Just no “bird nest” do, ok? hehee. When I wear a pony tail I like to leave a few strands on the sides just above my ears and scrunch ‘em for some curl. Now I can get those with the HANA Professional easily because the 1″ iron works great in small places. I can’t use a larger iron because I’d like to keep my skin the way it is. hahaa

Speaking of burns, the handle is slip-free and ergonomically shaped so you get a better grip. I like the smooth grooves in the ceramic plate also. No snags. I hate those. Ouch! And the cord swivels 360-degrees for a tangle free session. Our hair was getting caught up in the cord of our old iron. So this gives us some pain-free style. The cord also comes with a convenient loop for hanging if you prefer to store it outside of the case.

My hair tends to be on the dry side and dull on it’s own so imagine how happy I was to try out the ShineShield. It smells really good right out of the bottle. And you don’t need a huge amount to get a nice, glossy shine without a greasy appearance. This product is great because most silicone based shine serums can weigh your hair down. Not the ShineShield. It’s made with Jojoba, feels light and leaves your hair nice and soft.

I really appreciate that with most Misikko iron purchases you get a FREE heat proof mat. No more burned carpeting! Yea, speaking of that, my 17 year old daughter left her old iron laying on her bedroom carpet when she left for school a few months ago and it was still plugged in. A few hours later I started smelling something strange. Didn’t know what it was so I started walking around the house. The smell took me to her room and there on the floor was her straightener. I picked it up and, ugh, it left a big yellow burn mark. I was NOT happy but I’m glad our house did not burn down that day. If I had not found it then, who knows what would have happened. So I really love the fact that I don’t have to worry about it anymore. Misikko is fabulous!
