In his pursuit of the flawless knife, Corey Milligan, the man behind New West KnifeWorks, was inspired to create his own using higher quality steel, wood, and a mix of hand and machine crafting to ensure every knife is the best.
By investing in premium high-carbon, stainless steels made in the U.S., New West is able to produce a knife that will last a lifetime.
As you know, I say it time and time again… with cutlery you get what you pay for. Don’t fall for those cheapo sets or individual knives just because they’re cheaply priced. You’ll be sorry you did. Instead, invest in quality knives that will not only provide the best in usage (comfort, stability, and sharpness) but will last a long, long time.
Over the years I’ve tested a number of brands and styles of knives and none stand out quite like the Fusionwood 2.0 line of knives offered by New West KnifeWorks. The bright and colorful signature wood handles are absolutely gorgeous — a true work of art.
I recently had the opportunity to check out the 9″ Superbread Chef Knife from the Fusionwood 2.0 line and I am in love. This beauty is unlike any other serrated knife I’ve ever used. The unique ‘wave’ serration gives you an incredibly sharp edge that’s powerful enough to cut through even meats effortlessly AND unlike straight blades, the Superbread Chef knife slices soft foods such as tomatoes without crushing them.
Those dimples on the sides of the blade are there for a purpose as well. No, they’re not there just to look cute. haha!
The kullens, or dimple grinds, allow the blade to pass through food cleanly and without sticking to your food — I love this feature! That’s always been one gripe of mine when it came to my old knives. When I prepped food, trying to do it in a hurry, the wet fruits and veggies or meats were always sticking as the blade passed through. Nothing like slowing me down and aggravating the crap out of me.
With the Superbread chef knife I can continue cutting and move a whole lot quicker because I don’t have to stop after every slice to remove stuck-on food. Gotta love that!
I also love how the fusionwood 2.0 handle feels in my hand. The generous, sweeping curves provide a comfortable grip and because it’s not shaped for one specific hand, this one accommodates a wide range of anatomical and use variations. I feel much more confident and in control using my Superbread Chef knife!
Fusionwood 2.0 handles are made of select hardwood that’s impregnated with a proprietary engineering grade resin. This resin is pulled into the wood (using a vacuum process) so there’s no surface treatment that deteriorates over time. The handles are then only sanded and buffed to a nice sheen — creating truly beautiful, incredibly durable and seamless handles.
I really like that the blade runs the full length of the handle, making it much sturdier and stronger than other brands I’ve used.
These babies also come with their own quality leather sheath for extra protection when in storage. You don’t just want to toss a knife with such quality like this in a drawer with a bunch of other cutlery or gadgets. This one deserves much better treatment!
As if these knives aren’t awesome enough, I’m proud to say they’re made in the good ole U.S.A. That’s right, they’re designed, engineered, and tested by Corey at New West. The blades are cut, ground and finished by the Lamson and Goodnow Company in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, a 170 year old factory that runs completely on hydro power generated on site, making fusionwood 2.0 the greenest knife you can buy.
If you’re looking for quality, durable knives for yourself or as a gift for the foodie in your life, I highly recommend the Fusionwood 2.0 line from New West KnifeWorks. They combine beauty, form and function and would make one heck of a gift this year. I guarantee you will love them as much as I do!

These knives look awesome.
I love the dimples purpose and the colored handles.
Wow!! I love great knives, and this one looks like a special one..the colors are gorgeous, and the fact that it is made so “greenly” makes it even better…I have been going out of my way to purchase things more responsibly…I don’t know if it helps or not, but every little bit can’t hurt, especially when it’s a well made item I’d want anyway!
Darn, missed the giveaway but WOW that is one nice knife~! I knew dimples were cute but had NO idea they could be useful:) I have never had a nice knife and boy have I cooked tons of meals in the past 32 years and well before that helping my mom. I would not know what to do if not struggling to cut something. Especially cutting up veggies. and potatoes. Takes me forever.
Also didn’t know a knife could be so pretty!
US made too. THAT seals it!
