I’ve always loved small kitchen appliances and gadgets as much as I love animals, and if I had the room, I’d own one of everything.
You just never know when you’re gonna need ‘em, right?
I cook a lot and I do mean A LOT so I’ve got to be armed with the proper “tools” to do the job right. And being a busy wife, mom, business owner, and full-time blogger, my time is quite valuable so when I come across products that help the cooking process go quicker and smoother, I’m all over it.
That’s why I was extremely thrilled when I received my new 20 cup Sensor Logic™ Rice Cooker & Food Steamer from Aroma. It’s like having 4 appliances in one — with it you can steam, simmer, saute, and keep food warm. It also cooks from 4 – 20 cups of food in a single use. Talk about awesome!
This baby is SO simple to use. I was quite shocked to find how easy it is. With a little bit of layering and the push of 2 buttons you’re on your way to perfectly cooked, steamed or simmered food in a short amount of time. Plus, as with a slow cooker, you can move on to other things while the appliance does the work. Gotta love that!
The Sensor Logic is made up of 3 different layers — the outer housing with Sensor Logic advanced technology that helps the steamer “think” for itself, the removable, nonstick inner cooking pot, and the removable steam tray.
On the outer front of the Sensor Logic is a programmable touch pad which allows you to delay cooking for up to 15 hours for meal flexibility. So, if you’re a working mom who can’t be home to cook a full course meal, no worries. Let the Sensor Logic do it all for you!
On my first attempt at using the Sensor Logic I really didn’t have high expectations. And so, with my trial run I prepared a batch of long grain white rice. It sounds too easy but honestly, perfectly cooked rice isn’t that simple — kind of like risotta. Just ask Chef Ramsey. LOL. I wanted to see what this appliance could do and the results were surprisingly good.
(counter clockwise) 1.) Push button opening 2.) Steam tray/spoon/spatula/measure cup
3.) Removable inner cook pot 4.) Cook pot with built-in measuring markers
HOW IT WORKS:
For a meat and rice dinner, simply add the desired amount of rice (using the included measuring cup) to the bottom of the inner cooking pot. Fill the pot with the recommended amount of water listed in the owners manual (for 3 cups of rice, fill up to line #3). Give it a stir with the plastic spoon (provided by Aroma). Then, insert the steam tray on top, add your meat, close the lid and program the steamer to the recommended setting.
1.) Add rice to the cook pot 2.) Pour in water up to designated fill line
3.) Close lid & depress the “white rice” button 4.) Cooked rice
The steam tray allows the meats and veggies (if you add any) to steam while your rice cooks below for an easy, one-pot meal. So, prep it in the morning before you leave for work and come home to a hot cooked dinner later on.
My rice came out perfect and tender the very first time. I do recommend you rinse the rice first before adding it to the pot. This helps prevent the rice from sticking and from caramelizing in the bottom of the pot as it cooks. No one wants clumpy browned rice, right?
1.) Yummy, fluffy cooked rice 2.) Creamy rice pudding
I quickly found out I should have prepared more rice because I turned this batch into rice pudding and it was gone in less than 12 hours. I awoke to an empty dish in the refrigerator and several requests for more. And so, early in the morning I was in the kitchen (again) cooking more rice in my Aroma cooker — only for it to be gobbled up in no time flat. I guess I’m going to have to start an assembly line for rice pudding. Except my piggy family will be helping out. haha!
The Sensor Logic is perfect for soups, stews, chili, taco fixin’s, fajita fillings and much more… even mouthwatering desserts!
