It’s always fun sitting back and watching young children as they role play. Especially when they’re acting out cooking in the kitchen.
I think my own love of cooking started when I was about 3 or 4. I yearned for my own pretend kitchen (a good friend of mine had one) but unfortunately I was never lucky enough to get one. My parents had 4 kids to buy for and money was tight back then. So, I made do with what I had.
I do remember getting play food for Christmas one year and it was one of the greatest presents I ever got from santa.
Things sure have changed since then. The quality of pretend food is SO much more lifelike, it almost makes you want to eat it for real. hehee!
Learning Resources offers a New Sprouts Munch It! My very own play food set that’s full of most toddlers’ favorite foods such as macaroni & cheese, a hot dog, cookie, cheese sandwich, juice box, and much more. Each piece is easily identifiable in fun, bright colors.
Munch It! foods are made of soft, molded plastic and especially designed with toddlers in mind due to their sizes, shapes and the fact that each food item is all in one piece — no parts that come apart, or anything that can cause a choking hazard — even the hot dog , mac & cheese and cereal is one solid piece.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX?
My niece and nephew loved playing ‘restaurant’ with this play set. I honestly don’t know what they enjoyed most, the realistic look of the food, pretending to cook it, serving it or being silly and taking it away from us as we were trying to “eat” it. hehee!
I really like the aspect of being able to teach young children all about nutrition and this set is perfect for that. They get to learn about different food groups and healthy eating habits. It would be a great teaching tool for early childhood teachers in the classroom!
