When it comes to household chores, ironing is definitely NOT one of my favorites. I often find myself tossing laundry back in the dryer a second and sometimes a third time just to avoid getting the iron and board out.
Sure I could take them to the professional cleaners but I’m not made of money and don’t want to be “taken to the cleaners”, if you know what I mean. hahaa! And so, I do it myself… well, on occasion.
For me, waiting for the iron to heat up, and going through the whole process just takes way too much of my time — something I’m limited on most days. So, I take other steps that more than likely cost me in the long run — cost US in the long run. Sorry hubby!
Introducing a better alternative…

The first thing I noticed about the ExtremeSteam is it’s size. It’s perfect for at-home jobs but also portable enough to fit inside your luggage so you can take it with you on trips. PLUS, it’s lightweight so no heavy, bulky awkwardness going on there when in use.
HOW TO USE IT:
First things first… read the instructions, including that about safety. Anytime you’re working with steam, you definitely want to pay attention and follow directions because otherwise you can experience severe injuries/burns. We certainly don’t want that!
This is NOT a toy!
To use the ExtremeSteam steamer, first remove the water reservoir from the front of the handle, pull out the rubber inlet cover and fill the reservoir with water up to the top. Then replace the cover and reattach the reservoir.
Plug the unit in and you’ll notice a red light emitting from the top portion of the steamer. This lets you know the product is working. After allowing it to heat up for one to two minutes you should notice that a green light appears — it’s now ready to use.

For my first test I chose a silk blouse, polyester skirt, one of hubby’s cotton t-shirts and a pair of Gina’s denim shorts. This gave me a variety of fabrics to work with.

Next I tried hubby’s cotton t-shirt. He always complains about how his t-shirts are wrinkled even after being ran through the dryer (a few times– shh!) so I wanted to see just how well the ExtremeSteam steamer would work. Let’s see…

Now denim is one fabric that I find to be a real pain when it comes to ironing. It’s thick and heavy and just plain stubborn. Let’s see how those wrinkles react…

After less than a minute of ExtremeSteam and they’re virtually gone!
And one last garment, my polyester maxi skirt with full side slits. Now I’m really picky about my dress clothes and although I was a bit worried about damaging the fabric, I gave it a shot. Let’s see how it turned out…

It’s harder to tell with the dark background but my skirt was really covered in wrinkles from hanging in my closet (draped over a hanger). But now it’s super smooth and wrinkle-free.
The great thing about it, besides the fact that my clothes no longer have wrinkles, is that it doesn’t take long at all to get through each garment. The ExtremeSteam starts to work immediately as soon as that steam hits the fabric and when using the locking “constant heat” switch you can zip around your articles of clothing without even squeezing the trigger.
It’s AMAZING!
I’m really loving the ExtremeSteam… so much so that I’ve been going through my home in search of anything and everything that’s wrinkled just so I have an excuse to get the steamer out and use it. It’s actually quite fun! hahaa.
My items go from looking like they’ve been all rolled up into a ball for months (that’s really the case when it comes to my kids’ clothes) to smooth and flat in no time. And it doesn’t require a large table or board either. You can steam your way to smooth while your garments are hanging on their hangers. PLUS you can use them on your drapes (which I’ve done) and yes it works!

Something else I really love is that the ExtremeSteam steamer will kill dust mites and bed bugs (not that we have a problem with the bed buggers). But my son, Derek, and I have allergies so this feature is a HUGE plus. BYE, BYE dust bunnies!!!
The attachments work great as well. As you know we have 3 furbabies in our home and that hair can be really annoying. Wearing black clothing out in public is really embarrassing because along with it comes kitty and puppy’s fur. Eek! So NOT attractive. But doing a quick run over those garments with ExtremeSteam and the brush attachment really works well at getting that hair (even lint) GONE.

I would love to have one of these, I hate traditional ironing!
I absolutely hate ironing, so this garment steamer would be perfect for us to de-wrinkle an outfit before an evening out or a special day. I’d also love to own it while traveling!
