Becoming a new parent can be scary, especially if you’ve had no experience with babies.
For some new moms and dads it can be quite intimidating actually. I mean there’s just so much you need to know — how to feed, diaper, bathe and clothe baby.
There’s a really great parenting book, What To Expect When You’re Expecting, that many soon-to-be parents rely on to help get them through the first year. And as you may have already heard, the book turned movie hit the big screen recently. Have you seen it? The movie takes a close look at love through the eyes of five interconnected couples experiencing the thrills and surprises of having a baby. Many of us have been THERE!
Hey, did you happen to notice the hot new toys that were featured in the movie? Lamaze, a company that makes educational toys for babies, offered 3 totally adorable toys; Stretch the Giraffe, Octivity Time Octopus, and Hula Girl travel toy.
What I love most about Lamaze toys is that they focus on the development of your baby in six month steps using their infant development system to help parents choose toys that are proper for their child’s age.
The first stage, for newborns, is all about discovering colors, shapes and sounds. The second stage, for babies six months and up, are all about stimulating learning and play, as well as the development of fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. The last and final stage three, for babies nine months and up, stimulates baby to explore.
The trio of toys we received are bold, soft and brightly colored — each offering their own additional features.
I think my favorite out of all three toys is the Octivity Time Octopus. Stretch the Giraffe is rather cute too, but I love that the octopus offers so many different activities in one, keeping baby entertained for longer periods of time.
Once baby catches a glimpse of herself in the small mirror she’ll be entranced by her new found friend. hehe!
HOW DO THESE TOYS MEASURE UP?
The octivity time octopus measures 10.5″ x 8.9″ x 7.1, the Hula Girl measures 3″ x 3″ x 7″, and stretch the giraffe measures 6″ x 4″ x 2″.
Lamaze toys offer plenty of textures, sights and sounds and are perfect for on-the-go wherever baby may go. Plus, they’re machine washable!
These guys offer plenty of distraction during diaper changes as well and once baby is old enough for tummy time, they’re sure to be immediately enthralled by the crinkly tentacles of octopus — just perfect for teaching cause and effect.
BUY IT!
Lamaze toys are available at retailers nationwide as well as online at amazon.com. Average retail prices are as follows; octivity time octopus ($24.99), hula girl ($16.99), and stretch the giraffe ($14.99). Prices may vary per store.
If you’re looking for quality, educational toys for your baby, I highly recommend Lamaze toys. They would also make great baby shower gifts!
