Cheer up your cupcakes with Cupcake Cuties + Giveaway

Cupcakes are all the rage anymore and although they’re cute and just as tasty as their larger counterparts (cakes), cupcakes don’t provide you with a whole lot of room to decorate as elaborately or let you express yourself as much as a whole cake.

It’s kind of hard to write ‘Happy Birthday’ or any other message, especially since cupcakes have a mounded ‘muffin’ top. So how do you get your message across? Sure a candle in the middle might be of help but there’s not much creativity there, right?

I received the “Cuties for the Cure” kit to try out because the disease has hit my family more than once and it means a lot to me to get the word out about breast cancer. My kit included 24 sleeves (3 different colors/designs), a jar of mixed white sprinkles and pink breast cancer ribbon candies, plus a pastry bag.

These boxes are absolutely adorable!

One great thing about purchasing the ‘Cuties for the Cure’ kit is that 5% of sales goes to the Susan G Komen Foundation. I really love the generosity of Cupcake Cuties in helping a very deserving organization!

Using the Cupcake Cuties is extremely easy. I mixed up a batch of milk chocolate cupcakes & vanilla frosting and all that was left, after baking and allowing the cupcakes to cool, was to adhere the sleeves to the bases of the cupcakes, ice and garnish with sprinkles. Easy as 1, 2, 3!

If you don’t have tips for the pastry bag, like I did, you can easily ice your cupcakes with a knife and add the sprinkles before it firms up. To apply the sleeves, you remove the back from the adhesive portion at the end of the sleeve. Wrap the sleeve around the cupcake liner, just below the crown of the cupcake, and press the sticky portion to the other side. It adheres really well!

I like that there’s just enough sleeves and sprinkles to decorate 24 cupcakes. When you’re limited for time, it’s perfect if you’re using a boxed cake mix because a typical mix bakes up 24 standard sized cupcakes.

Here’s a tip when using the sleeves: wrap the cupcakes first, then ice and decorate so you don’t risk messing up the icing. Also, pull the sleeves a little snuggly before attaching the end with the adhesive so your sleeves are more secure on the cupcakes. Otherwise, they may be too lose and your cupcakes could fall out when you move them. This also gives the crown a little more of a rounded top which looks nice after icing.
