Grandma Ruby’s Sweet Shoppe Tasty Fudge {review} + Giveaway

When I think of Grandma, I think of good food and yummy desserts. My grandma was, in my opinion, a great cook. She shared some of her recipes with my mom and now that I’m older, those recipes have been passed on to me. Well, not necessarily recipes because we cook different foods by sight rather than by reading a handwritten recipe but I’m glad to have been given the opportunity to learn how to cook the foods she made.

My grandma has been gone a long time but I can still carry on with her favorites in the kitchen. Oh what memories! One thing my grandma always did was made sure she had some type of sweets for me when I visited. Yep, she spoiled me. Not to upset my sisters here but I was grandma’s favorite. Seriously! hehee

Well, you all know I love to bake and I have tons of cookware, utensils and gadgets in my kitchen to prove it. My favorite kitchen item is my Kitchenaid Pro 6 stand mixer. I couldn’t live without it! There’s just something about cooking, especially baking that’s like therapy to me. I LOVE IT! Problem is, I don’t always have time to do it anymore.

For Christmas, I do a lot of baking. I make several different types of cookies, chocolate covered cherries, sometimes cream puffs, and of course fudge. Peanut butter fudge is my absolute favorite, as long as it has a good amount of peanut butter flavor. I’ve never met anyone who didn’t love fudge. What’s not to love about it? It’s sweet, it’s creamy, it may or may not have nuts or fruit. I’m drooling just thinking about it. I’m sure many of you love it too.

Ok, so I know not all of you are bakers but don’t worry, you can still get that creamy goodness. How? Let Grandma Ruby make it for you! I know you’re wondering “who is Grandma Ruby?” Well, although there IS a Grandma Ruby, the Grandma Ruby that I am referring to is Grandma Ruby’s Sweet Shoppe, founded by sisters Kari Carpenter and Marni Glenn. The sweet shoppe is a tribute to their dear grandma Ruby and her magical ways in the kitchen. As you can imagine, seeing their grandma in the kitchen whipping up batches of sweet confections is what truly inspired the sisters.

I was given the ‘sweet’ opportunity recently to try some of Grandma Ruby’s tasty fudge and although I’m truly saddened that it’s all gone now, I am very happy to tell you that I have absolutely NO complaints! Ok, don’t hate me!!! hehee

I don’t want to make any of you jealous but I have to share with you the flavors I received — there were 4.

The first flavor, Chocolate. You just can’t go wrong with chocolate and this specific chocolate fudge is all of the chocolate-y goodness you want and more. It’s made with real cream and butter and OH so creamy. It just melts in your mouth and leaves you in a state of peace.

Having a bad day and need your chocolate fix? This will do the trick! See how creamy it looks? Yum!

The second flavor? Chocolate Turtle. No, Grandma Ruby’s did not dip turtles in chocolate. haha. The Chocolate Turtle fudge I tried is made of classic chocolate, melted caramel, and then topped with pecans. With this one you still get the creaminess of the chocolate fudge but you’re then greeted with that gooey melted caramel and the crunch of the pecans. What a tasty combination!

If you like turtle candies, you’re gonna love this one!

The next flavor? Cherry Chocolate. If you are a fan of chocolate covered cherries (cherry cordials), this one is for you AND me both. hehee. It’s a really nice mix of both flavors combined. Cherries and chocolate, and chocolate and cherries. Oh my! It’s sweet and creamy and oh SO good. This is the first time I’ve ever tried this flavor and I have to say it’s now one of my favorites. It gives you the same flavor of a chocolate covered cherry but without the need for chewing. You can literally just suck on it and savor it as it melts. You know that juicy cherry flavor with the bit of chocolate you get with cherry cordials. MMmm, this is it. Yummy!

Last, but most certainly NOT least, Chocolate Peanut Butter. Oh my word I loved this. Absolutely my favorite out of the 4. Chocolate and peanut butter anything is like heaven. It’s my hubby’s favorite flavor also. Grandma Ruby’s doesn’t skimp on the peanut butter either. And there’s no generic peanut butter at that. “She” uses Jiff. You know that “choosy mother’s use Jiff?” I know you’ve seen the commercial. hehee. Jiff is actually my favorite peanut butter because it has a nice peanutty flavor. With the Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor, you get a layered fudge. That tasty chocolate fudge on top and a larger peanut butter fudge on bottom. The two combine to create — heaven. It’s so creamy, so peanut buttery, so divine!

It actually has a very good peanut butter flavor compared with so many other store bought fudge I’ve tried. Others are more sugary sweet than anything but not Grandma Ruby’s. It’s perfect!

Need a tissue for that drool? hahaa. I know you want some.

Grandma Ruby’s Fudge is sold by the pound in a single order for $11.99. You can split that order into two 1/2 pound flavors for the same price. Or how about 4 flavors in 1/4 pound increments? With 38 different flavors, I know you won’t be able to choose just one!

If you like a lot of fudge or just a little every now and then, you should check out the Fudge Club. Yep, the Fudge Club. You can choose between 3 month, 6 month, or 12 month intervals. In each shipment you’ll receive a 1 1/2 pound box of that delicious fudge. Grandma picks the flavors (1/4 pounds each). Don’t worry now, although I’m sure each flavor is extremely tasty, you still get to choose the remaining 1/2 pound flavors. What other club would let you do that? Oh yea, Grandma also gives a nice surprise when you purchase the 12 month club. Not just once either, she’ll send you a sweet surprise every quarter. hehee
